Tracey Saltenberger
Portion-control, discipline - and a workout partner can make all the difference
Consistency is Key
I’ve had a lot of clients over the years and something that separates Tracey from most is her discipline and hard work. She is one of the most consistent, hard-working clients I’ve had in a long time. She almost-never misses a session, and sometimes she’s waiting for me at the door of my gym ready-to-go for her 5:45am sessions. When the snow falls she logs into zoom and STILL makes the workout happen. She gives much credit to her workout partner, Wendy, but it’s Tracey’s drive that really gets her results!
How long have you been working out overall and how long have you been working with Endurance Train?
Overall, I’ve been working out fairly consistently for the past 10 years or so. I had a break in that consistency due to the pandemic and a foot surgery, but started back up again about 2 years ago which is how long I’ve been training with Endurance Train.
What keeps you working out? And/or why with Endurance Train?
Overall, I feel better mentally and physically when I’m consistently exercising. I’m not disciplined enough to regularly exercise on my own so having scheduled appointments with Jeff each week holds me accountable. I like the constant variety of exercises and that he tailors the workouts to my individual needs and capabilities - it helps keep me motivated. It doesn’t hurt that I also gained a great workout partner (shout out to Wendy!!)
Everyone always wants to know what the ‘secret’ is for losing weight, but truly, what recommendations would you offer? What kind of things did you discover worked well to help you reduce weight gain?
Over the years I’ve tried A LOT of different diets/weight loss solutions (Weight Watchers, Isagenix, Arbonne, Optavia, clean eating and intermittent fasting, to name a few LOL). Honestly, what has worked best for me is portion control - I pretty much eat what I want, within reason, but am mindful of the portions and I drink a lot of water throughout the day. I’ve also found that strength training 4 days a week has really had a positive impact on keeping my weight in check.
What type of goal(s) do you have for the next two months?
I want to continue to get stronger.
Looking further ahead, what type of goal(s) do you have for the next 5-10 years?
Middle age is a drag, so I’m hoping to mitigate some of the negative effects of that by continuing to exercise regularly for as long as I can.
Any final words of wisdom?
Keep it at - it’s true when they say life is a marathon and not a sprint. Even small changes in routine add up. Oh, and drink your water and find yourself a dedicated workout partner!
